Anyway, I grew up in Chicago, in Mount Prospect. yangtha16 Nice! I was wondering what Asian you were! That's so cool! Do you speak Hmong? Born to Korean immigrants (forgot all my Korean, which was my first language); San Diego, United States Lol Let's go, Midwest! Hehe And yeah, I do know how to speak Hmong but i'm not fluent. My grandma only knows how to speak Hmong and some English words like "hello" and "bye". Haha So i'd say my level is good enough to converse in but with small conversations like, if the other person said "Are you parents home?" I'd say "Um... I don't know." or "They went to the store." But I do understand what they are saying. My mom likes to mix Hmong words with English words a lot and my dad speaks more Hmong than English. But I still answer in English. Haha The only thing is that I can't read in Hmong. It's confusing. Like... Yang is spelled Yaaj. Her is spelled Hawj. Me is spelled Kuv. You is spelled Koj. And those are just the basics. PLUS there is Hmong Green and Hmong White!! Lol Hmong White people pronounce a lot of words differently so it's difficult for Hmong Green people to join a conversation with them because we don't know what they are saying. For example, If I say "Koj (You)", they would probably be confused because "Koj" is a different meaning to them. Make sense...? Haha Hmong Lesson 101. And how about you? Do you understand most Korean when your parents talk to you or when you watch korean dramas? Lol Also do you find it difficult to re-learn Korean?? And me too! ^_^ Except I was born to Laos immigrants. My parents came over to the US during the Vietnam War. They lived in LA for a short while and then moved to Chicago while my mom lived in Kansas City. My dad met my mom in Chicago and they got married in like... a day. Lol Well, that's what they tell me. Then they had my older sister and older brother in Wheaton, IL before moving to Wisconsin and had the rest of my siblings and I. Haha my life story...

I wish i had the vocab of this kid: (Maden Moon, a Korean boy~~ maybe 3 years old?) Your family's story and Hmong 101 is amazing!!!! And hey, your family's from Illinois! How many siblings do you have? I have 2 younger sisters. But, my parents do speak to me in Korean mostly, and I understand them mostly. Wow! thank you! that was cool!!!!!

How many siblings do you have? I have 2 younger sisters. But, my parents do speak to me in Korean mostly, and I understand them mostly. Wow! thank you! that was cool!!!!! LOL that was a funny comparison. Hehehe And yeah, my dad lived in Chicago most of his teen life and my older sister and older brother lived in Wheaton for most of their kid life. But I have A LOT of siblings. 2 older sisters, 2 older brothers, and 2 younger brothers. My mom had us like... a year apart. For example, after my older sister was born, my mom had my older brother a year later. Then a couple years later, my mom had my 2nd older brother and a year later, they had my 2nd older sister. *Side note* I myself went to Wheaton, IL in 2012 for this Hmong District Youth Meeting. It's where Hmong churches all over the nation (Like from California to Rhode Island all the way from Seattle to Georgia) come together to teach the youth about God. They only hold it every other year and they hold it where most Hmong people are located. Lol and I've been to Chicago countless times. Every time we go to Chicago, my dad always tells us about how he used to ride a train or whatever to downtown Chicago and just spend money. :sweats:Haha and every time i've gone to Chicago, I've only been to Chinatown and Vietnamese Town. The only time I went into Downtown Chicago was when my cousins from San Francisco visited and we had went to the Sears (Now Willis) Tower. But that's cool! Do you get confused sometimes when they speak to you because when I watch variety shows with eng subs, the MCs sometimes get confused with what the Idol is saying. Lol Also, do your little sisters speak better Korean? Plus, have you ever been to Korea before? And have you been to Six Flags in Gurnee, IL?
